| CV RAY CAESAR Born 1958, London England Current Residence, Toronto Canada BIO 1977 to 1980 The Ontario College of Art 1980 to 1996 The Hospital for Sick Children, Department of Visual Education, Medical Artist 1998 to 2001 GVFX Toronto, Senior Animator I worked as a medical artist for 17 years in the Art and Photography Department of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Working in a photography department in a Children's hospital is the act of chronicling everything from child abuse, reconstructive surgery, to the heroic children that deal with the hardship and challenges that life has to offer. I spent many years creating medical and research documentation, medical and technical drawings, images of huge equipment surrounding tiny premature infants, visual tools for brain-damaged children and perhaps the most difficult for me, drawings documenting animal research. I spent several years working in the film and television Industry as a senior 3D digital animator for GVFX in Toronto. This included modeling and animation setup of characters and animated Digital Environments. I worked on shows such as Stargate, Total Recall 2070, Joan of Arc and Prince Charming for Hallmark. In 1999 I was nominated for a primetime Emmy and Gemini Award for Special Effects in a Series. I now create my work full time and live in Toronto Canada. METHODS ... How I work. My work is entirely digital, from its creation to its method of printing. I create models in a three dimensional modeling software called Maya and cover these models with painted and manipulated photographic textures that wrap around them like a map on a globe. Each model is then set up with a invisible skeleton that allows me to pose and position the figure in its three dimensional environment. Digital lights and cameras are added with shadows and reflections simulating that of a real world.
